    Walnut Grove Methodist Church Statement on Sexuality in response to the UMC 2024 General Conference:

    Romans 3:
    23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

    Regarding the UMC General Conference, it has spoken for itself. Regarding the Scriptures and Sexual Purity, this is what we have said: All are called by GOD to celibacy in singleness and fidelity to one spouse in Marriage. Biblical marriage is between one man and one woman Those who practice sexual immorality will not serve as Clergy nor in Church leadership either in the GMC or at Walnut Grove.

    Plan a Visit

    Whether you’re a first time guest or a long standing member, you can expect to experience God’s presence while worshipping with us. Here at Walnut Grove Methodist Church we hold a blended worship service where you can expect a little of everything: some organ music and some guitar; traditional hymns they sang when our doors opened in 1858 and also more contemporary songs. You can always expect a message from the pulpit anchored on the rock of God’s truth. We have discipleship training beginning at 9:45 a.m. and our worship service starts at 11am. We make space for children in the worship service and have many young families in our midst. Come as you are, there is no formal dresscode; wear what makes you comfortable whether that be a suit or shorts. You can find us a ten minute drive S.E. of Roebuck proper in the hamlet of Walnut Grove. We invite you to come join us this Sunday for worship!

    Welcome to Walnut Grove Methodist Church! Our historic church is located in the growing community of Roebuck, S.C., just south of Spartanburg.     What we believe

    As Christians, Methodists believe in the Trinity - God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - and we follow the divine Word written in The Bible's Old and New Testaments. Born sinners, we are forgiven through our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our savior, who lived and died for us, and will come again.

    The Methodist Church was founded upon the spiritual teachings of John Wesley, who emphasized Christian living, putting faith and love into action in our daily lives. We understand the power of God's grace, which allows us, by our faith, to have eternal life. As members of the Methodist Church, we promise to actively participate in this faith by freely giving of our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness.

    We strive to continuously nurture our own hearts and minds so that we may grow in our faith. But, as true Disciples, we must use the gifts God has given us to live lives of mission and service to others.
